NASA Curiosity Rover New 360 Footage of Mars

     Nasa Jet Propulsion’s Youtube chanel just release new footage taken from the Curiosity Rover on Mar’s. The footage shows detailed 360 view of the landscape in explicit detail. Curiosity Project Scientist Ashwin Vasavada gives a descriptive tour of the Mars rover’s view in Gale Crater. The white-balanced scene looks back over the journey so far. The view from “Vera Rubin Ridge” looks back over buttes, dunes and other features along the route.


NASA Orbital Sciences Rocket explosion filmed from a Cessna at 3000ft (Video)

I’m sure most of you have seen the Nasa Orbital Sciences explosion that took place at the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia last night.  Nasa was attempting to send a unmanned rocket to the International Spacestation packed with supplies.  Well here is footage that you probably haven’t seen yet.  Ed Sealing’s youtube channel uploaded footage of the explosion from 3000ft in the air in his Cessna airplane.  This footage gives you a better perspective of just how large the explosion really was.

NASA test drives the new Mars Rover (Video)

NASA test drives their new Mars Rover that will be used for maned missions to Mars in the not to distant future.  NASA’s new space exploration vehicle features a pressurized cocoon, omni-drive, and a suit port that allows astronauts to easily get in and out of the rover. 

 Watch as they take it for a test drive, showing off some of the new awesome features.  The video was uploaded to the Smithsonian channel yesterday.


NASA’s Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator “Flying Saucer” Takes Flight from Hawaii (Video)

Watch this footage of NASA;s Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator was successfully launched on a helium balloon today at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii.  This is technology that NASA is testing for future landings on Mars. NASA plans for the next launch of the LDSD to be released at 120,000 feet and fire a Star 48B rocket motor to boost it to Mach 4.0 and 180,000 feet.  This height and speed simulates a spacecraft flying through the Martian atmosphere and is where the air breaking systems will be tested on the LDSD vehicle.


NASA plans to grab an asteroid with a giant claw (Video)

NASA sends first video from space station with a laser beam (Video)

NASA announced late Wednesday that it would beam enhanced-definition video via laser from the space station to the Table Mountain Observatory in Wrightwood, Calif. From there, the video will be transmitted to the mission team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.   Here is the video that they beamed from the space station on NASA;s Jet Propulsion Laboratory Youtube channel.


Kepler Discovers First Earth-size Planet in the Habitable Zone of Another Star (Video)

NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope has discovered the first validated Earth-size planet orbiting in the habitable zone of a distant star, an area where liquid water might exist on its surface. The planet, Kepler-186f, is ten percent larger in size than Earth and orbits its parent star every 130 days.  The star, located about 500 light-years from Earth, is classified as an M1 dwarf and is half the size and mass of our sun.
